Otamatea Day Camp is a 3 day bush adventure for 6-12 year olds doing all kinds of activities ranging from hut building to cooking sausages over a fire, to an entertaining tent programme of drama, songs and Christian messages, to making new friends and learning new skills. All that a well-balanced Kiwi kid needs to take with them into their future.
Previous electives were
Hobo stoves—learning to make and use them.
Wind vanes— made from wood and other materials.
Carpentry— creating a boat with wood etc.
Gift boxes— Origami boxes made with recycled items.
Flax flowers— weaving with flax.
Horsemanship—grooming, leading and riding horses.
Flax canoes—making the canoes then racing them.
Craft & card making—caterpillar craft & card making.
Archery—firing arrows at targets.
Bushcraft—learning to identify plants and planting
Organic art—making art with what is around us.
Games—With Sport Northland
Dam building— building a dam in the stream (change of clothes essential!!)
Firearm safety/Targets— gun safety and target shooting.
Drama/Dance—learn some new moves!!
Mosaics—mosaic work with recycled materials. Creative carpentry—creating using nails, hammers and wood.
